Irene has over 20 years’ experience grooming dogs, and is a member of the Irish Professional Dog Groomer’s Association. All Creatures is delighted to offer a specialist grooming service designed to support animals in the Cork region with specific needs.
Regular grooming is essential for your pet’s health and wellbeing, as it keeps the skin and coat clean and free from mats and knots that might cause soreness or itchiness. It also allows us an opportunity to give your pet a thorough check for lumps, bumps or anything out of the ordinary that might need veterinary attention – things you might not normally notice if they’re covered by fur!
Grooming services offered
We cater for any coat type or length, including hand-stripping where appropriate. Grooming typically includes a bath, a clip/trim/etc. according to coat type and preferred style, nail trimming, ear cleaning, ultrasonic teeth cleaning, and anal gland expression if necessary.
Our aim is to provide a gentle, kind approach to grooming in a supportive and peaceful environment. In particular, our specialist knowledge, gentle handling methods and specialized equipment are suited to animals that are suffering from age-related painful conditions, such as osteoarthritis, or from chronic musculoskeletal issues that impede mobility. We also cater for large dogs and nervous dogs that may not be comfortable attending a regular grooming parlour.
Nervous dogs
For particularly nervous dogs, we can advise you as to which times are especially quiet at our clinic in Little Island. In these cases, we start by introducing different products and equipment gradually in order to ensure the dog is comfortable with the entire process.
In some cases it is best to start with a meet & greet, so the dog can visit the clinic and get to know us and the surroundings outside of the context of a groom. Owners are always welcome to stay for a tea/coffee and a chat while the dog is being groomed, which is particularly encouraged for dogs that are fearful as the owner’s presence can make it much easier for the dog.
